Why this exists
Most botanical content online is one of two extremes — either dry taxonomy from Wikipedia or breathless marketing from supplement sites. There's no middle ground that says what the plant does, how strong the evidence is, and what could go wrong without trying to sell you a capsule.
PlantSage is built for the people who actually use plants — herbalists, foragers, permaculture gardeners, traditional-medicine students. We index the data they need in one place, attribute everything, and stay out of the way.

- Cite or skip
If we can't show you where a claim came from, we don't publish it. Every medicinal effect links to a source.
- Confidence is honest
We rate evidence high/moderate/low. A traditional pairing without clinical backing is labeled as such — never inflated.
- AI is labeled
Some descriptions are AI-assisted (Claude Haiku) from structured data. Always marked. See methodology.
- Not medical advice
We're educational, not prescriptive. Every page with health information carries this disclaimer.
