Lowers blood sugar.

The definition

Plants that reduce elevated blood glucose. Used as adjuncts in type-2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Monitor closely if combined with conventional antidiabetic medications.

Mechanism

Insulin-sensitising effects (bitter melon, fenugreek), alpha-glucosidase inhibition, or pancreatic beta-cell support.
