Rewarewa

Rewarewa, scientifically known as Knightia excelsa, is a native tree species of New Zealand, found in both the North and South Islands. This tree thrives in a variety of soil types, including light (sandy), medium, and heavy (clay), and prefers moist conditions. It can grow up to 20 meters tall and is hardy in zones 8-11, making it well-suited for temperate regions. Rewarewa is particularly notable for its edible nectar, which can be consumed directly or used in syrups and jams. The tree's vibrant red flowers not only provide ornamental value but also attract wildlife.
