Whisky Currant

Whisky Currant (Ribes inebrians) is a shrub native to the western and central United States and Canada, including regions such as Alberta, Arizona, British Columbia, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Known for its edible fruit and leaves, this plant thrives in light to partial sun with moist soil that can be either sandy, medium, or clay-like. Hardy from zones 4-8, it grows up to 2 meters tall and is well-suited for gardens where its ornamental value and culinary uses can be appreciated. One distinctive feature of the Whisky Currant is its light green leaves and small, fragrant flowers that precede the edible berries.
