This plant thrives in moist conditions with a preference for light to partial sun, growing up to 3 meters tall. It is valued both as an ornamental grass and for its edible parts, which include the seeds and young shoots. Due to its adaptability and widespread native range, it can be found in various soil types ranging from sandy to clay, making it a versatile plant in diverse habitats.
