Start with Bonnet Pepper to gain gardening confidence and experience.
Seeds, small pots or trays for starting seeds, a large container or garden bed, potting mix, and stakes for support.
Start Bonnet Pepper indoors about 8 weeks before the last expected frost date in your area.
Use a well-draining potting mix. Ensure containers have drainage holes and are at least 30 cm deep.
Sow seeds indoors about 2.5 cm deep in small pots. Once seedlings have two true leaves, transplant them to larger pots or directly into the garden after all danger of frost has passed.
Keep soil consistently moist and place the container in a sunny spot. Use a grow light if natural sunlight is insufficient.
Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, ensuring good drainage to avoid waterlogging. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer.
Prune any dead or yellowing leaves and branches to encourage air circulation and prevent disease. Harvest fruits when they are fully colored but still firm.
