The definition
Plants used to support lactation by increasing milk supply or improving milk-ejection reflex. Most commonly indicated in early-postpartum low-supply situations. Some carry safety considerations — confirm with a clinician before use during breastfeeding.
Mechanism
Phytoestrogens, dopamine-antagonist activity affecting prolactin, or saponin-mediated mammary stimulation depending on the herb.
