Jackfruit

Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) is a large evergreen tree native to the Indian subcontinent, where it thrives in moist environments with light to partial sun. Known for its edible fruit and ornamental appeal, this tree can grow up to 15 meters tall. Jackfruit prefers well-draining soil types—light (sandy), medium, or heavy (clay)—and requires full to partial sunlight. It is propagated by transplanting grafted trees or direct seeding indoors before the plant has more than four adult leaves. The distinctive feature of this tree lies in its large, spiky, and aromatic fruits that can weigh up to 15 kilograms, making it both a valuable food source and an interesting ornamental addition to gardens.
