Pyrus serrulata

Pyrus serrulata, known as Chinese pear or Sand pear, is a deciduous tree native to the south-central and southeast regions of China. This fruit-bearing tree thrives in moist, well-drained soils ranging from light sandy to heavy clay types. It prefers full sun to partial shade and grows up to 10 meters tall. While primarily cultivated for its edible fruit, Pyrus serrulata also serves as an ornamental tree due to its attractive appearance. Its distinctive features include a spreading habit and the production of white or pink flowers in spring followed by clusters of pear fruits in summer.
