Urtica cannabina

Urtica cannabina, commonly known as hemp nettle, is a perennial plant native to the northern regions of Asia including Altay, Buryatiya, China North-Central and South-Central, Chita, Inner Mongolia, Irkutsk, Kazakhstan, and other nearby areas. This plant thrives in moist conditions with light to partial sun exposure and can grow up to 1.5 meters tall. Known for its edible parts—specifically the leaves and shoots—it is both a valuable food source and an ornamental plant in certain landscapes. Its distinctive features include fine, soft hairs on the stem and leaves that can cause irritation upon contact, making it easily recognizable despite its light-loving nature and adaptability to various soil types including sandy, medium, and clay soils.
