— Reduces inflammation, acute or chronic.

The definition
Plants that downregulate inflammatory pathways. Used for arthritis, gut inflammation, skin conditions, and post-injury swelling. Effects range from mild (oats) to clinically significant (turmeric, willow bark).
Mechanism
Inhibit COX-1/COX-2, modulate NF-κB and cytokine cascades, or supply precursors to resolution-phase lipid mediators (omega-3 derivatives).
