Eases gas and bloating.

The definition

Aromatic plants that relieve flatulence, bloating, and digestive cramping. Traditionally taken after meals as teas or simple culinary additions. Among the safest and most widely-used herbal categories.

Mechanism

Volatile oils (menthol, anethole, eugenol, etc.) relax smooth muscle in the gut wall, allow trapped gas to dissipate, and modulate enteric nervous system activity.
