Flavonoid defined
— Pigmented polyphenols with broad benefits.

The definition
Large family of plant polyphenols — pigments giving flowers and fruits yellow, orange, red, and blue hues. Strongly antioxidant, often cardiovascular-protective. Quercetin, rutin, and hesperidin are prominent examples.
Mechanism
Antioxidant electron donation, capillary-stabilising effects (rutin, hesperidin), and modulation of inflammatory enzymes and immune cells.
