Multi-ring antioxidant plant compounds.

Broad category of plant compounds with multiple phenol rings — includes flavonoids, tannins, lignans, stilbenes. Strongly antioxidant, often anti-inflammatory and cardioprotective.

Mechanism

Electron donation to free radicals; modulation of signaling pathways (NF-κB, Nrf2); interaction with gut microbiota.
