Infused Oil defined
— Plant extracted into carrier oil.

The definition
Plant material macerated in carrier oil (olive, almond, jojoba) for weeks. Used as base for salves, ointments, massage oils. Distinct from essential oils, which are steam-distilled volatiles.
Mechanism
Lipid-soluble plant constituents (terpenoids, carotenoids, some flavonoids) transfer into the oil over 2-6 weeks of maceration.
