Protects nerve cells from damage.

Plants that shield neurons from oxidative, inflammatory, and excitotoxic damage. Relevant in neurodegenerative disease prevention and recovery from brain injury.

Mechanism

Antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic actions; some compounds (curcumin, sulforaphane) cross the blood-brain barrier.
