— Stops bleeding.

The definition
Plants applied to wounds to halt bleeding. Effective for capillary bleeding and small cuts. Not a substitute for medical care in major haemorrhage.
Mechanism
Tannins coagulate surface proteins and constrict capillaries; some species also activate clotting cascade.
