The definition
Plants that support liver function — promoting bile flow (cholagogue/choleretic), protecting hepatocytes (hepatoprotective), or stimulating regeneration. Traditional indications include sluggish digestion, hormonal imbalance, and post-acute hepatitis recovery.
Silymarin (milk thistle) stabilises hepatocyte membranes and stimulates RNA polymerase. Bitter constituents trigger cholecystokinin release. Glutathione precursors support phase-II detoxification.
