— Kid-safe herbs — and what to avoid for children.
Children are not small adults — they have different metabolic capacities, especially under age 6. Doses should always be reduced (typically 1/3 to 1/2 of adult dose depending on age and weight). Some herbs commonly used in adults are contraindicated in pediatrics. Always consult a pediatric clinician before giving herbal preparations to children.
Always consult a qualified clinician, veterinarian, IBCLC, or midwife before introducing any herbal preparation. If toxic exposure is suspected, contact the appropriate poison control hotline immediately.
Tolerated by childs at typical doses. Always start low.
