Hypotensive defined

Lowers blood pressure.

The definition

Plants that reduce elevated blood pressure. Best used as adjuncts to lifestyle, not as monotherapy for severe hypertension. Effects are typically modest but compound with diet and exercise.

Mechanism

Vasodilation (garlic, hawthorn), diuresis (dandelion), beta-blockade-like effects (motherwort), or calcium-channel modulation.
